Product Description

Going beyond the skills offered in most conflict resolution programs — talking, brainstorming, and compromising — this workshop helps kids handle the situations where there doesn’t seem to be a way to work things out. This program shows how holding a grudge can prevent both sides from dealing with a conflict and how a different opinion can help you see a problem from another point of view. Students also discover that even when people don’t like each other, they still have to treat each other with respect.

Holding a Grudge: Denise inadvertently loses the note Amy gave her confessing Amy’s interest in Cody. When kids find the note and tease Amy about Cody, Amy becomes furious at Denise. Despite Denise’s apology, Amy won’t speak to her. Amy’s sister helps her understand that when you hold a grudge you can’t resolve a conflict.

When You’re Both Right: Dan and Mike chip in to buy a video game. Their schedule for sharing it soon causes them conflict. They try talking it out and brainstorming for solutions, but can’t solve the problem. Dan’s mother suggests that the way to work out their problem is to get rid of what caused it. They return the game.

When You Just Don’t Like Someone: Kelly and Jake, who really don’t like each other, are on the same volleyball team. They badmouth each other to the rest of the kids, causing tension on the team. Finally, their coach steps in to help them see that while they don’t have to like each other, they do have to get along and treat each other with respect.
