The Lunch Lady is back to tell everyone about the new USDA “MyPlate” dietary guidelines. The food pyramid is gone, replaced with a simple plate icon. The new icon, MyPlate is easy to understand; one-half of your plate should be filled with fruits and vegetables, with whole grains and lean protein on the other half. Low-fat dairy on the side, such as a cup of skim milk or yogurt, is also suggested. How many vegetables should you eat? Why is whole grain better for you? What is obesity? These and other important health questions are answered in this entertaining, fast-paced program. MyPlate is a reminder to all Americans to adopt healthier eating habits. At a time when more than one-third of children and more than two-thirds of adults in the United States are overweight or obese, the Lunch Lady demonstrates to kids how to make smart choices from every food group this new nutrition tool.
